A sample report

This is what the diagnosis looks like.

A real one, delivered in August 2026 to Lennox Beauty Lounge, a hair and spray tan salon in Emsworth, Pennsylvania. Published with the owner's permission. The full report runs about 7,500 words. What follows is the shape of it, with the long tables and the page-by-page detail trimmed so you can read it in ten minutes.

Competitors named in the original are not named here. Every quote is from a live assistant answer, recorded at the time of testing. Answers change with location and time, so the same question today may return a different result.

Diagnosis. Lennox Beauty Lounge, Emsworth PAAugust 2026

How search engines and AI assistants see Lennox Beauty Lounge

Executive summary

This report answers two questions. Can Google find and understand your website, and when someone asks an AI assistant for the kind of salon you are, do you get named?

We examined all nine pages of lennoxbeautylounge.com line by line, and we asked 26 questions across two AI assistants, 32 test runs in total. Of the 22 runs where your name was not in the question, Lennox Beauty Lounge was recommended in 7.

The single most important finding is not a missing page. It is a page you already have that almost nobody can find.

Your spray tan page exists, prices six services from $55 to $75, and sells two monthly memberships. It is not listed in the file that tells search engines which pages you have, and Google has not indexed it. When we asked assistants where to get an organic spray tan near Emsworth, they recommended a studio nine miles away. Yours was never in the running.

Almost everything in this report is like that. The work is largely done. The wiring that carries it to search engines and assistants is not.

Traditional search

58 / 100

Clean page titles and descriptions, but your best commercial page is invisible and eight of nine pages have no main heading.

AI assistants

55 / 100

Winning on blonding, absent on tanning, color correction, and price questions.

What each score rests on. The AI score comes from 32 live test runs on real accounts, recorded verbatim. The search score comes from a page-by-page inspection of your site's code. Neither includes your actual Google rankings or traffic, because that data lives in Google Search Console and requires your account.

Section 1

Two terms, explained simply

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is the older idea. It is the work of getting a website to appear in a list of results on Google. Fourth place on that list still gets phone calls, because the customer sees ten options and picks among them.

Answer engine optimization, or AEO, is the newer one. When someone asks ChatGPT or Perplexity for a salon recommendation, they do not get a list of ten. They get one to three names and a reason. There is no fourth place. The business is either in the answer or it does not exist for that customer.

Section 2

What search engines see

Three lists of your website exist, and none of them match

InventoryCountWhat is in it
Pages live on your site9Everything in your menu
Pages in the list you give Google7Missing The Glow Bar and Careers
Pages Google has stored6Three are old addresses that no longer exist

Your spray tan page is missing from the list you give Google

This is the costliest finding in the report and the cheapest to fix. The Glow Bar page publishes your full tanning menu, six services, four packages, and two memberships. Whoever built it also wrote the page title to target spray tanning in Emsworth. Someone did the search work deliberately. None of it is reaching Google, because the page is absent from your sitemap and does not appear in the index.

Eight of your nine pages have no main heading

Every page needs one top-level heading that states what the page is about. It is the single strongest on-page signal a search engine reads. Your homepage has one. The other eight pages have none at all.

The full report continues through five more findings in this section: the missing share image that turns every posted link into a grey box, the 20 of 36 images with no description, the business record that lacks hours and social links, and what is already right in the code.
Section 3

How we tested

For the assistants, we used real accounts and typed questions the way a person looking for a salon types them. Not keywords. Full questions, with a town in them. Twenty of the questions came from a claim on the website. If the site says the salon does corrective blonding, then "who can fix my box-dyed blonde hair" is a question the salon has earned the right to win.

QuestionWhy we asked it

Where can I get an organic airbrush spray tan near Emsworth PAThe homepage claims custom organic airbrush tans
Who does beaded row hair extensions near Bellevue PAThe service list includes beaded row extensions

What the AI assistants showed

Perplexity175

The salon wins when the website says a thing plainly, and loses when it does not

This is the whole report in one line, and the assistants said it themselves. Asked for a blonde specialist near Bellevue, Perplexity put Lennox Beauty Lounge first:

For a true blonde-focused appointment near Bellevue, I'd start with Lennox Beauty Lounge in Emsworth. It's about 4.4 km away, explicitly specializes in blonding and lived-in color, and has a 4.7/5 rating from 50 reviews.

Asked who could fix box-dyed blonde hair in the same part of town, the same engine skipped the salon entirely and chose a salon on the North Side, describing it this way:

Explicitly lists "Transformational or Corrective Color," plus full highlights/lowlights and balayage.

Lennox Beauty Lounge sells that exact service. It is called The Blonde Revival and it is priced at $150 per hour. The word that keeps appearing in the winning descriptions is "explicitly." The assistants are not judging skill. They are rewarding the business whose words match the question.

Your spray tan page never entered the competition

Perplexity, asked where to get an organic airbrush spray tan near Emsworth:

The clearest match is a studio in Pittsburgh: it specifically offers custom organic airbrush tanning and is about 14 km (roughly 9 miles) from Emsworth.

The reason is not that the page does not exist. It does. The reason is that the page is not in the list you hand to search engines and Google has not indexed it. Your competitor did not out-write you. There was nothing for an assistant to find.

The assistants cannot find business hours

Lennox Beauty Lounge is at 215 Center Ave, Emsworth, PA 15202. Its published hair-service pricing starts at $55, but I couldn't find official business hours on its website; call or text to confirm availability.

That is correct. Business hours do not appear anywhere on the website.

The full report also covers published prices that assistants quoted from a competitor instead, two old page addresses that customers still reach and that now lead nowhere, and what the results mean split into a plumbing problem and a wording problem.
Section 5

Your social profiles as search records

This is not a review of the salon's social media marketing. It is a check on whether the profiles agree with the website, because an assistant reads a Facebook page the same way it reads a business directory.

PlatformTown shownWebsite linkStatus
InstagramPittsburghGoes to the booking system, not the websiteContradicts the site
FacebookEmsworthLinked and confirmedMatches
GoogleEmsworthLinkedMatches
YelpBellevueNot checkedContradicts the site
NextdoorBellevueNot checkedContradicts the site

The business appears to be in four different towns. For a customer this is harmless. For an assistant deciding whether two records describe the same business, it is friction, and it costs the salon the local search that matters most.

Section 6

What customers ask that your site does not answer

Underneath every answer, the assistants suggest the questions a person is likely to ask next. We collected all of them. Across the tests the assistants raised 69 follow-up questions. Removing duplicates leaves 43. Your site answers 11. Five more are about services you do not offer. That leaves 27 real questions your customers are asking and your website does not address.

Question customers askTimes raised
What ingredients or products strip a spray tan fastest4
Best ways to prep my skin before a spray tan appointment3
How to care for hair after a keratin treatment2
How long does a Brazilian blowout last2

Of the 27 unanswered questions, 9 concern spray tanning. That is the largest single cluster by a wide margin, and it lands on the service the assistants never once connected to your salon. Those are the cheapest pages you could possibly write, because you answer them out loud in the studio every day. This list is what Ongoing maintenance is built from.

Section 7

What is going well

Your page titles and descriptions are well written. All nine titles are unique and correctly sized. Eight of nine descriptions name Emsworth.

Nothing is blocking the AI crawlers. Many businesses block them by accident.

You publish prices, on both sides of the business. Most salons publish nothing. This is a real advantage the moment the pages are findable.

Your phone number is identical everywhere. That consistency is why every engine returned the correct number.

The blonding positioning already works. Where your site states the specialty plainly, you win. That is proof the approach works, not a theory.

Section 8

Section 9

The fix list, in three buckets

Bucket one: things you can do yourself today

Add The Glow Bar and Careers to your sitemap. In the Wix editor, open each page's own SEO settings and turn on the option that allows search engines to index the page. This is what keeps your entire tanning business out of Google.

Ask Google to index your current pages. Go to search.google.com/search-console, verify ownership, and use the URL Inspection tool to submit the six current pages. Free, about ten minutes.

Correct the town on Yelp and Nextdoor. Where to sign in, which field to change, and the support phone number for each.

Bucket two: things you can do with some coaching

Each item says where the text lives, what it says now, what is missing and what that costs, what the new version must contain, and an example in plain words to rewrite in your own. Headings for all eight pages that lack one. Image descriptions for the pages that sell tanning. A rewritten Instagram bio. Business hours on the site. Outlines for a color correction page and an extensions page, headings only, with what each section needs and a target length.

Bucket three: things best handled by whoever manages the site

A share image sitewide. The extended business record, written out as code ready to paste. The heading order on one page.

The full report carries every fix at this level of detail. Every correction names the field, what it says now, and what it should say. This is the list the repairs work through.
Section 10

The master checklist, in priority order

  • 1. Add The Glow Bar to your sitemap.Your entire tanning business is currently hidden from Google. One setting.
  • 2. Set up Google Search Console and submit your current pages.Free, ten minutes, and it fixes the stale index.
  • 3. Add Careers to your sitemap.Same setting, same place.
  • 4. Fix the town on Yelp and Nextdoor. Two records say Bellevue for an Emsworth address.
  • 5. Change your Instagram link to your website. The most-cited source about you offers assistants no path to your prices.
  • 6. Rewrite your Instagram bio to name Emsworth and spray tanning.150 characters doing more work than any others you own.
  • 7. Add a main heading to the eight pages missing one.The strongest on-page signal, currently absent.
  • 8. Add a share image sitewide.Every link to your site currently posts as a grey box.
  • 9. Add hours to your website and confirm them on Google. An assistant said out loud it could not find them.
  • 10 through 17.Image descriptions, the homepage heading, the Careers description, one email address, the extended business record, the color correction page, the extensions page.
  • 18. Retest in 60 days.Same 26 questions, same wording. The numbers to beat are 7 recommendations out of 22, and 0 out of 6 on the category questions.

You are not missing the work. You are missing the wiring. Your spray tan menu, your prices, your policies, and your team are all written and live, and the single setting that would let Google see the most valuable of them takes about a minute to change. Everything in the first three items on this list is free.

Method and limits

Every report ends with a plain account of how the testing was done and what it cannot tell you. Which accounts were used and whether they were signed in. Which questions ran on which assistant. What could not be measured without your logins. Any claim an assistant made that could not be verified, marked as unverified. Answers vary between runs, so a repeated question may return a different result.
